One of the NFL’s all-time greats, Ravens safety Ed Reed phones in after Baltimore’s big 44-13 win over Cincinnati on Monday Night Football. Reed moved into first place on the NFL’s career interception return yards list following his 34-yard pick six of Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton. The eight-time Pro Bowler discusses with Rich how the 2012 Ravens are now Joe Flacco’s team and how a couple of veterans, such as Ray Lewis and himself, are still able to play at such a high level this far into their illustrious careers.

Rich then welcomes in actor Jerry Ferrara, who is best known for his starring role as Turtle on the hit HBO show “Entourage.” A Brooklyn native, Jerry is a die-hard football fan who loves his New York Giants. Sixteen-season veteran and sure-fire Hall of Fame tight end Tony Gonzalez joins Rich on Falcons Cam just days away from his return to Arrowhead, when his Falcons face off against the Chiefs at 1 p.m. ET Sunday. It marks the first time since leaving Kansas City that the NFL’s all-time record holder for touchdowns, receptions and yards as a tight end will return to face his old team.

Next up, Rich welcomes Seahawks rookie quarterback Russell Wilson, who beat out veteran Matt Flynn for the starting spot in Seattle, defying the many doubters who said a quarterback of his height couldn’t make it in the NFL. Wilson will look to prove doubters wrong again when he leads the Seahawks against the Cardinals on Sunday.

With July coming to a close and training camps in full swing, the podcast crew chats about some of the latest news and storylines from around the league. Here on the podcast, we like to bring together and matchup guests from all walks of life, be it in the entertainment world or the NFL. On this episode we have two players on either end of the football spectrum: Canadian and Pro Football Hall of Famer Warren Moon and rookie Jaguars punter Bryan Anger. The former, you should recognize. Moon played 23 seasons of professional football with four different NFL teams (most notably the Houston Oilers), amassed nearly 50,000 NFL passing yards and reached nine Pro Bowls. Prior to, he played six years up north with Edmonton in the CFL. He stops by to talk about his illustrious Hall of Fame class in 2006, Cam Newton 2012 potential, the Seahawks, a new type of helmet he’s a partner in and much more. Anger, if you remember, was the highest drafted punter since 1995 and caused Rich to have a conniption at this year’s Draft. The Cal graduate couldn’t believe the response to his selection and explains how he became a foot-to-ball specialist, what it’s like getting ready for his rookie training camp and more.

A week of all football guests kicks off with someone long overdue for an in-studio visit as Titans quarterback and devilishly handsome New England native Matthew Hasselbeck took time out of his L.A. workout schedule to stop by the program for a chat. With a fresh hair cut (our efforts for an all-bald cast nearly complete) and donning a Celtics shmedium T-shirt, Hasselbeck shared his thoughts on everything from his decision to re-sign with the Titans last summer to how close he came to becoming a UCLA Bruin back in the day. You’ll never guess what Boston College head coach Tom Coughlin said to him at the time that made him change his mind. Later in the conversation, the youngest Hasselbeck brother, Nathaniel, joins in to share some stories from Matt’s days with the Packers and growing up in an NFL household. There’s one involving a snowy playoff week in Green Bay you won’t want to miss.

Once again, we do our best to give you the best mix of the NFL and pop culture. With the second overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft and one of the writers of the hit movie “Ted” on the same show, I daresay we’ve achieved that goal.

First up, the savior-in-waiting of the Washington Redskins, RG3 phones in to the show to give us an update on his contract status, his readiness to take the reins, his comfort in the Mike Shanahan offense, his preparation for the intense pressure on the horizon and, perhaps most importantly, how in the world did he wind up on the same “30 Rock” set as Kim Kardashian the night of the NFL draft and was he aware she was looking his way?

Lastly, Alec Sulkin joins us in studio. The long-time “Family Guy” writer, Twitter star and co-author of the bawdy hit film “Ted” also happens to be a diehard Patriots fan. I’m sure all of you who saw “Ted” would be shocked to know Sulkin is from Boston and has lived and died with the Pats his whole life. We hit on several backstories concerning “Ted” and had an overall fun conversation that fans of “Family Guy” and followers of Sulkin’s popular Twitter account — @thesulk — will truly enjoy. With Rich Eisen out of town, his trusted podcast producers Chris Law and Chris Brockman take over the reins of this week’s edition of “The Rich Eisen Podcast,” featuring none other than Rich Eisen himself and NFL.com editor Gregg Rosenthal.

Law and Brockman first phone up Rich, who is on the road wrapping up the taping of his new reality show, “The Great Escape,” which premieres on TNT Sunday, June 24 at 10 p.m. ET. Rich shares some inside info on the dramatic locations where the show is shot and which grueling tasks some of the contestants must go through in order claim the $100,000 cash prize Rich doles out after each episode.

The guys then phone up Gregg Rosenthal, the managing editor of NFL.com’s “Around the League,” which offers quick-hitting updates on the latest football news and notes. Law and Brockman discuss a myriad of the hottest topics with Rosenthal, including the Saints’ “bounty” appeals, Percy Harvin literally feeling Minnesota and much, much more…

Light doesn’t hold back as he discusses the ups and downs of his career, how he handled the two Super Bowl losses to the Giants and the infamous party videos that were shot with him and Rob Gronkowski hours after the Super Bowl XLVI loss. Light also opens up and discusses his intensely private battle with Crohn’s disease, which nearly ended his career years ago.

The multi-talented Billy Bob Thornton joins Rich in studio to discuss his new book, movie and his beloved Indianapolis Colts. Thortnon’s new book titled “The Billy Bob Tapes: A Cave Full of Ghosts” is a retrospective on his life and some of the crazier experiences he’s had, all told through a series of recordings he did with a group of friends and then transcribed into a book. Billy Bob also discusses how he became and huge Colts fan and why he’ll continue to root for Peyton Manning even though he’s moved on to Denver. Thornton also discusses his new film “Jayne Mansfield’s Car” which he co-wrote the screenplay for, directs and also stars in.

Joe Walsh’s new album ‘Analog Man’ hits stores June 5th

To their recollection, the famed Triplets of the dynastic 1990s Dallas Cowboys have sat for an interview together only a handful of times, the last time coming just before Emmitt Smith was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

That means the podcast chat you’re about to hear represents the first time Smith, Troy Aikman and Michael Irvin were interviewed at the same time with the entire group enjoying Hall of Fame status.

Call it a Triplet Bump for The Rich Eisen Podcast.

Your humble narrator sat down with Smith, Aikman and Irvin late last week, about an hour before Smith held his 3rd annual charity dinner in a suburb outside of Dallas. This year’s dinner, however, also served as a defacto reunion, honoring the 1992 Super Bowl Champion Dallas Cowboys. Yes, it has been 20 years since the Triplets won their first of 3 Super Bowls and a host of luminaries from that team — including Charles Haley, Jay Novacek, Tony Casillas, Jerry Jones and more — convened to celebrate and, of course, to help Emmitt and his wife Pat raise money for local charities. (Cellphone photos I took from the evening can be found to the right.)

Emmitt, Troy and Michael reminisced about the days when they first met to the drama-filled seasons that, despite the much documented turmoil, still yielded three championship seasons. Of course, all three men thought that those Cowboys teams could have won more than just the three titles. Stay tuned to hear why. Aikman, in particular, had a very interesting take on the Jerry Jones/Jimmy Johnson rift and how it leaves him disappointed to this very day.

Before we all hit the banquet room, I made sure the Triplets hit on the current state of the Dallas Cowboys, who, unbelievably, have still won only two playoff games since Emmitt, Aikman and Irvin won their 3rd and final Super Bowl.

Guests include the director of one if this summer’s most anticipated blockbusters, Peter Berg, whose film “Battleship” hits theaters May 18th.

Director, actor and producer Peter Berg joins Rich in studio to discuss a variety of topics, ranging from his new action-packed flick “Battleship” to his critically acclaimed television series “Friday Night Lights” and more. “Battleship,” which has an all-star cast consisting of Liam Neeson, Taylor Kitsch, Rihanna and Brooklyn Decker, hits theaters next Friday domestically after a successful international premiere in Tokyo last month. It also stars Greg Gadson, a former Iraq and Afghanistan war veteran who lost both of his legs in combat and is the current director of the U.S. Army’s Wounded Warrior program. Berg, however, didn’t seem to care much about hawking his latest movie, wanting to discuss instead an initiative in sports that he is incredibly passionate about.

Concussion prevention and player safety are very important to Berg, and he genuinely believes the problem — and the solution – begins at the youth football level. He, along with others like Bobby Hosea and LaVar Arrington, are trying to change the system and how America’s youth are taught the game, working to ensure proper technique and form are implemented from the beginning. Berg’s passion about player safety stems from a real-life incident that took place while he was on location in Austin, Texas preparing to shoot the first season of “Friday Night Lights.”
