Rich Eisen Podcast: Bob Costas, Matt Hasselbeck, Michael Silver and Kara Henderson
Guests include NBC Sports Bob Costas, Titans QB Matt Hasselbeck, and Yahoo! Sports NFL writer Michael Silver alongside Kara Henderson.
Ground was broken on Monday Night Football as podcast favorite Maurice Jones-Drew fulfilled a promise to Rich and performed “The Podcast” end zone dance after scoring Jacksonville’s first touchdown of the evening. Unfortunately for MJD and the Jaguars things didn’t end as joyous as they began versus the Chargers as they fell 38-14. It certainly wasn’t a lack of effort by Jones-Drew who had 26 touches for 188 total yards and the touchdown. From all of us here at the podcast, we appreciate your efforts MJD and say thank you.
As for this week’s podcast Rich chats with 19-time Emmy Award winner and the host of Sunday Night Football on NBC Bob Costas. As you can imagine the pair talk about Bob’s recently televised conversation with former Penn State defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky, and how similar allegations have arisen at his alma mater of Syracuse surrounding former assistant basketball coach Bernie Fine. The conversation then switches gears to the gridiron and Costas shares his take on something he’s been outspoken on in recent weeks, egregious end zone celebrations like those of Bills WR Stevie Johnson week 12 versus the Jets. (Fear not MJD, your name didn’t come up)
Following Costas we fire up Titans Cam in Nashville for one of our all-time favorite guests as Tennessee QB Matt Hasselbeck sits down to talk with Rich. The Titans are 7-5 and have a realistic shot of making the playoffs in Matt’s first year with the team. This is after a rough start by their all-pro running back Chris Johnson, who now seems to be hitting his stride carrying the ball. Hasselbeck gives a possible explanation behind CJ2K’s turnaround and how first year head coach Mike Munchak has the team buying in to what he is selling in the Music City.
The podcast rounds out with Yahoo! Sports NFL columnist Mike Silver, who is joined by Kara Henderson and nothing is out of bounds for this trio. Multiple debates breakout, ranging from their individual palate preferences when it comes to cinnamon, to which teams on the fringe will not be on the field come playoff time in January…and much, much more.
It’s a fun listen, and as always thanks for downloading. Next week, New England Patriots fan and the star of the upcoming film “We Bought A Zoo” actor Matt Damon joins the show, plus the voice of Sunday Night Football on NBC Al Michaels comes back in studio for a visit.

Rich Eisen Podcast: Jerome Bettis, Maurice Jones-Drew, Joe Buck and Kara Henderson
This week’s guests include the NFL’s fifth all-time leading rusher, Jerome Bettis, who stops by to discuss the latest NFL news, including his thoughts on the Steelers’ chances this season and the surprising city in which he believes former coach Bill Cowher might land.
Next on the podcast is Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew, who attempts to atone for his Monday night faux-pas from a few weeks back, when he fumbled on the goal line against the Baltimore Ravens. MJD’s fumble cost REP fans dearly, as it prevented the debut of his highly anticipated end-zone celebration dubbed “The Podcast.” To say Pocket Hercules felt bad would be an understatement as he doubled down and promised the celebration would happen in Week 13 when the Jaguars host the Chargers on “Monday Night Football.”
After that, Rich fires up Rams Cam for St. Louis native and “NFL on FOX” lead play-by-play announcer Joe Buck. Rich and Joe chat about the happenings around the league from Week 11, as well as Buck’s homage to his legendary broadcasting father after David Freese’s home run in Game 6 of the World Series. The podcast rounds out with Kara Henderson and “The Worm,” who touch on some hot NFL topics and more.

Rich Eisen Podcast: Steve Wyche, Kara Henderson and The Worm
Guests include NFL.com senior writer Steve Wyche, who stops by fresh off attending Terrell Owens’ workout held Tuesday in Southern California. Wyche has the inside information on how the workout went, what potential suitors might be out there for a 37-year-old wide receiver who’s coming off major reconstructive knee surgery, as well as when he envisions Owens landing with a team and more. Rich and Steve also go around the league to recap Week 7 and look ahead to Week 8 in the National Football League.
Next up on the podcast, Kara Henderson makes her return, albeit brief, as she’s joined by none other than “The Worm.”
It’s a fun, quick-hitting podcast, so be sure to check back Thursday as Houston Texans star running back Arian Foster joins Rich, plus University of Kentucky men’s basketball coach John Calipari skypes in, and “Pardon the Interruption” co-host Michael Wilbon also dials up the program.
As always enjoy, and thanks for listening. Read
Pt.1 Rich Eisen Podcast: Terrell Suggs, Troy Aikman, Nick Bakay, Kara Henderson, Jeffrey Ross
Guests include Ravens LB Terrell Suggs who shares his candid opinions of the Steelers and Patriots QB Tom Brady (guess he’s not a fan of the Uggs commercial). Also NFL on Fox lead analyst and three-time Super Bowl winning QB Troy Aikman phones in to discuss Big D’s debacle in the Big Apple Sunday night as well as his thoughts on the Peyton Manning saga in Indianapolis. Back on the program fresh of the Comedy Central Roast of Charlie Sheen is the Roast Master General himself Mr. Jeffrey Ross who shares some hilarious stories that took place at last Saturday’s Roast that included “Iron” Mike Tyson himself…The Roast will be airing Monday Sept 19th on Comedy Central. The show wouldn’t be complete without the darling of the podcast as Kara Henderson is back on and she is joined by one of the biggest Buffalo Bills fans on the planet in comedian Nick Bakay who is on a football high after the Bills stomped the Chiefs in Arrowhead. We had so much fun with this podcast we ran long so we decided to break it up into a two-parter. So be sure to download both parts 1 & 2 as we tie up some loose ends from the Curb Your Enthusiasm podcast from July. As always enjoy and tune into the TV version that airs Thursday at 4:30pm ET.
